OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Transition Evesham Vale has been inspired by the first Transition Initiative Town 'Totnes' in Devon, UK; like them, we believe it is only by involving all of us - residents, businesses, public bodies, community organisations and schools - that we will come up with the most innovative, effective and practical ideas, and have the energy and skills to carry them out. Our future has the potential to be more rewarding, abundant and enjoyable than today, and by working together we can unleash the collective enthusiasm and genius of our community (that means you!) to make this transition.
Our mission is two-fold :
To explore and then follow pathways of practical actions that will reduce our carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
To build the Vale's resilience, that is, its ability to withstand shocks from the outside, through being less dependent on centralised high carbon systems in areas such as food and energy.
The TEV Constitution, agreed at the AGM in September 2011, can now be viewed HERE How will this be achieved? We don't exactly know yet (although we have some good ideas). Our approach is to support you, in the community, in exploring the practicalities of this challenge. Would you be interested in getting involved? Could you spare the time to use your unique skills and resources? We would like to hear from you. |

| Transition Evesham Vale has been set up to stimulate creative thought, and its aim is to find ways for our community to move towards a lower energy future. A future that Transition Totnes desires as being 'both abundant and delightful', and what better place to emulate that than here in the Vale of Evesham. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
We hold regular meetings and have created a series of working groups to explore what likely effects Climate Change and Peak Oil will have on our community. We have begun to communicate with businesses, public bodies including our MP Peter Luff, as well as community organisations and schools in the hope that by working together we will be able to engage more profitably with all members of our community.

We are hoping that this web site, with all its library links, video links and files to download will help in this process. It is not our intention to scare or guilt trip people into action, but we believe it is better to be informed in a way that then empowers us to make our own decisions as to how we would like to see our future evolving here in the Vale. By so doing it is hoped that this will encourage changes in the world around us too, that could benefit the larger community as well, in a way that could create a better future for us all.
